The purpose of this project is to determine what kind of wind turbine build will produce the most efficient results. Given different materials and restrictions, the class is supposed to use these elements to test their ideas. Also, students need to record this enegry through an arduino board to measure their results.
The purpose of the blade material investigation was to test the traits of different materials for wind turbine blades. We wanted to find the material that would catch the most air, spin the fastest, and produce the highest average power. We did this by measuring volume, mass, density, power, and flexion for each material.
The result of our project so far is that between balsa wood, cardboard, and polystyrene, balsa wood is the optimal material for a wind turbine blade. We have also determined that 20 degrees is the optimal angle for a blade to achieve the fastest speed.
